Certified Hospitality Supervisor

The Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS®) is the most prestigious certification available to a hospitality supervisor. It is part of an elite group of hospitality professionals who by combining education and experience with dedication to the industry have achieved a high level of expertise.

The CHS® designation provides recognition for these skills. Recognized worldwide, the CHS® designation is the lodging industry’s highest acknowledgment of professionalism for supervisors in the hospitality industry.

Application Procedure

  • Submit completed application along with required documentation listed on the application.
  • Application for the must be approved by AHLEI prior to attending the workshop.
  • MAHTEC will notify applicants’ status of application prior to workshop date.




Qualifying Candidate

Person who supervises two or more individuals, has job duties that are at least 20 percent supervisory in nature and include tasks such as scheduling, training, interviewing, disciplining, inspecting, and conducting performance reviews, makes decision and judgment calls while performing daily duties; and has input on hiring and firing decisions within a department.


Candidate time in position: 3 months, OR:

  • One current AHLEI supervisor, management, department head, or executive certification eliminates time requirement
  • Completion of AHLEI’s Supervisory Skill Builders series eliminates time requirement.
  • Degree from an accredited academic institution eliminates time requirement

Course Outline


  • To learn about the strategies that can be employed when dealing with various challenges


  • To provide the participants with details of mistakes that leaders need to be aware of and avoid in order to creating an effective team

Time Management

  • To learn the importance of time management

Effective Communication

  • To learn the importance of communication within the organization

Problem Solving and Conflict Resolution

  • To identify problems (internal/external) that might exist and list it out to have a better understanding and outlook

Orientation and Training

  • To learn to expect the unexpected from a trainee

Motivation and Team Building

  • To learn how to be an effective team builders and motivators and getting the best out of people

Staffing and Scheduling

  • To learn about the tactical and operational staff scheduling

Improving Employee Performance

  • To learn to understand the issue of every personnel and tackle it accordingly.


Registration starts at 8.30 am on the first day. Classes start at 9 am end 5 pm. Morning and lunch break will be served at appropriate times. Exam will be held on the last day.

Deposit & Payment

Full fees are required upon submission of application. Fee includes: Exam; Certificate and Lapel Pin upon successful completion of the Exam.


Once participant prerequisites have been approved by AHLEI, no applicant transfer, substitute, or cancellation are allowed.
