Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA®)

The Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA®) is the most prestigious certification available to a hotel general manager or hospitality executive. Those who earn the CHA® become part of an elite group of hospitality professionals who, by combining education and experience with dedication to the industry, have achieved a high level of expertise.  The CHA® designation may be used on letterhead, business cards, and other writings.

Application Procedure

  • Submit completed application along with required documentation listed on the application.
  • Application for the must be approved by AHLEI prior to attending the workshop.
  • MAHTEC will notify applicants’ status of application prior to workshop date.

Qualifying Candidate

General Manager, owner/operator in a lodging hospitality company, or corporate executive at a lodging hospitality company responsible for the operation of two or more properties.  Assistant general manager or director of operations/rooms division (after successfully completing the CRDE).

Prerequisites

Candidate time in position: 2-years, OR

  • One current AHLEI department head certification takes 1-year off requirement (limit 1)
  • Degree from an accredited academic institution will take 1-year off requirement (limit 1)

Human Resources Management

Planning and recruiting, selection, Orientation and Specialization, Training and Development, Evaluating Employee Performance, Turnover, Discipline and Exits.

Marketing and Sales Management

Plan, The Sales Office, Personal Sales, Internal Marketing and Sales, Advertising and Public Relations

Rooms Management

Front Office Operations Reservations, Security Equipment, Planning and Organizing the Housekeeping Department, The Role, Cost and Management of Hospitality Facilities, Managing Maintenance Needs, Energy Management.

Food and Beverage Management

Determining Food and Beverage Standards, The Menu, Dining Service, Beverage Service, Sanitation, Safety, Security, Health and Legal Issues

Finance Management

Financial Statements, Operations Budgeting, Capital budgeting, Basic Cost Concepts and Cost –Volume-profit, Cost Approaches to Pricing, Managing productivity and controlling labour costs.

Revenue Management

Tactical Revenue Management, Strategic Revenue Management, Introduction to Hospitality Marketing and Sales Cost Approaches to Pricing, Managing productivity and controlling labour costs.

 

Time

Registration starts at 8.30 am on the first day. Classes start at 9 am end 5 pm. Morning and lunch break will be served at appropriate times. Exam will be held on the last day.

Deposit & Payment

Full fees are required upon submission of application. Fee includes: CHA® Online Review and Study Guide; First Exam; Certificate and Lapel Pin upon successful completion of the exam. Lunch and 2 coffee breaks for the duration of the program are inclusive.

Cancellation 

Once participant CHA® prerequisites have been approved by AHLEI, no applicant transfer, substitute, or cancellation are allowed.
