Learning Objectives

This course is designed to provide delegates with training on the principles and practices of occupational safety and health management within the hospitality industry, covering:

  • An introduction to the concepts of occupational safety and health management for an effective way of accident reduction/prevention.
  • Understand the requirements of JKKP/DOSH during the department’s Annual Audits. (JKKP/DOSH Checklists will be given)
  • To establish and enhance efficiency in Safety and Health Committee organization.
  • Identifying, Assessing and Controlling potential hazards/risks at workplace.
  • Analysis of why occupational safety and health management is an important business issue.
  • Understanding on the Occupational Safety & Health 1994 (Act 51) and its compliance.
  • Conduct safety inspections/audits and recommend corrective actions

Part 1 –  DEFINITION

  • Definition of OSHA 1994 (Act 514 ) & Factories and Machinery Act – FMA 1967(Act 139)
  • Legal requirements and guidelines.

Part 2 –  OSHA 1994 (Act 514) & FMA (Act 139) REQUIREMENTS

  • Safety and Health Organization – OSH Committee and functions
  • Safety and Health Policy
  • Notification of Accidents, Dangerous Occurrence, Occupational Poisoning/Diseases
  • Workplace Inspections

Part 3 –  SAFETY AND HEALTH AT WORKPLACE

  • Process and overview of HIRARC
  • OSH Enforcement and Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA)
  • Safe Operating Procedures/Safe work Instructions

Part 4 –  OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HAZARDS

  • Chemical Handling – Legal requirement
  • Mechanical Safety – Machine guarding and operating procedures
  • Fire Safety – Life safety aspects and emergency preparedness
  • Electrical Safety

Part 5 –  OSH MANAGEMENT – Loss Prevention

  • Staff/Vendor/Supplier Training – Training needs and plan
  • Permit to Work – PTW for working on heights/confined space entry/Hot works
  • Personal Protective Equipment – PPE issuance and usage/records
  • Safety Inspection/Audit – Internal and External (DOSH/JKKP) /maintaining a safe work place

Who Should Attend

The program is specially designed for OSH Committee Members, Emergency Response Team, Dept Heads/Managers/Supervisors.

Engineering/Housekeeping/Kitchen/Stewarding/Public Area and staffs from other departments.

Time

Registration starts at 8.30 am on the first day. Classes start at 9 am end 5 pm. Morning and lunch break will be served at appropriate times.

Deposit & Payment

In order to secure the said training on a define basis, kindly effect 50% Deposit on the total costs for the training requirements upon confirmation. This deposit is non-refundable. Balance 50% of the total costs is require seven (7) days prior to the training.

Cancellation & Transfer

Please note that should this registration is cancelled fourteen (14) days before the day of the training, a 50% cancellation charge will be imposed. If cancellation is made seven (7) days before the training, full payment of the training will be levied. Please note that amendments can only be made to above arrangement by giving a minimum of three (3) working days’ notice.
