Dato’ Megat Shahrul Azman Abas is the Chief Executive Officer of Felda Investment Corporation (FIC) Hospitality Management Sdn Bhd, overseeing properties in Port Dickson, Kuching, and the United Kingdom. He began his career in 1996 with Gopeng Berhad and later managed Tanjung Sanctuary Langkawi, now The Ritz-Carlton Langkawi. In 2007, he was appointed Head of Tourism at the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA), subsequently served as Senior Vice President at Syarikat Prasarana Negara from 2011 to 2013. A Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a registered Chartered Accountant with MIA since 1996, Dato’ Megat holds an MBA in Tourism and Hospitality from UUM and has completed executive programmes at Nanyang Technological University and Cornell University. He is also a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) and Certified Hospitality Trainer (CHT). In 2010, he was recognised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture as Langkawi Tourism Personality of the Year. Dato’ Megat currently serves as Vice President of the Malaysian Association of Hotel Owners (MAHO), Honorary Secretary General of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH), Exco Member of PATA Malaysia Chapter, Board Member of Koperasi Anak Pahang (KOPEKAP), and Advisor to Malaysia’s Polytechnics and TVET hospitality programmes.
